The Fighting Arts Against Bullies, Predators, Gangs!

In my last post I covered about 98% of the targets you could hit when defending yourself.  Today we are going to take a look at some of your personal weapons you can use to effectively hit many of those targets.

 

  • Forehead.  The head butt is a great strike, especially when the Bad Guy has your arms tied up in a bear hug and he is too close for an effective leg or foot strike. Nothing to it.  Just drop your forehead onto his nose as often as you are able.  I guarantee other great targets will open up as his eyes fill with water and he instinctively loosens up jis grip.
  • Back of Head.  You are grabbed from behind.  You do the math.
  • Brain.  Your Cerebral Cortex, or “thinking brain” is your greatest weapon, if you can keep it working by not panicking.  Breathe, Baby, Breathe.
  • Voice.  Startle the Bad Guy.
  • Eyes.  Keep ‘em peeled for action.
  • Teeth.  Bite, Baby, Bite.  Many men fear getting bitten.
  • Hands. 

Ø     Fingernails (into the eyes like a cat).

Ø     Fingers and Thumb.

Ø     Heels of Palm.  Be surprised, the palm-heel creates hard, durable and versatile striking lever.

Ø     Fists.

Ø     Back of Hands.  A slapping motion with the wrist and knuckles to the nearby face of the Bad Guy.

Ø     Ridge of Hands. 

  • Elbows.  Strongest and most powerful striking levers on our body.
  • Forearms (Inside of or Outside Of).  very effective from close quarters against the sides of the neck where the Brachial Plexus Nerve Motor Points reside.  Knockout bows, or, at the very least, stunners.
  • Hips.
  • Buttocks.  Use the hips and butt to thrust at the Bad Guy who might have you in a Bear Hug, or who is standing close by.  Gain some space.
  • Knees.
  • Shins.
  • Feet.
  • Heels of Feet.
  • Toes.
  • Combinations:  By itself, one body part might not be enough to cause the Bad Guy anything but a tedious delay, maybe a second of aggravation.  But, if you can use several body parts in quick combinations, well, brothers and sisters, then you might have something.

Ø     Kick Start Your Motorcycle is a visual image I use to describe this powerful and devastating counterstrike combination.  In this combination the stimulus might be the Bad Guy grabbing you from behind.  Before he can really gain control, here’s what we do.

1.      Butt Strike to gain some space and to build inertia (all moves are harder to do from a total stand-still).

2.      Use Feet To Jump Straight Up (or, as far as you can if he still has hold of you).

3.      Drive Heels of Feet onto the “pedals (Bad Guy’s feet).”

4.      Turn the “Choke” on the Motorcycle.  Once again the “choke” is a visual metaphor for the Bad Guy’s testicles with your free hand. Turn that choke as hard and for as long as it takes.

5.      Break Free and either continue pummeling the Bad Guy or Escape.
