NJ Board Of Education Receives Award
The Woodstown-Pilesgrove Board of Education got an early Christmas present on the 18th of December when they received an award from the Interim Business Administrator Harold E. O’Neil Jr. The award is dubbed the New Jersey School Boards Association Insurance Group 2008 Safety Award, which was given to about 32 school districts in all of New Jersey. Given that there are about 300 districts in total, being one of the recipients is an accomplishment indeed. So what made these school districts qualified for the award? NJ.com has this story:
The 2008 recipients were recognized for implementing an effective safety program in their districts. This minimized their workers compensation costs. The ultimate benefit is to the taxpayers and students. The students will have fewer substitute employees so the continuity of their education is maintained at the highest level. The taxpayers will realize a savings, as the school district pays out lower insurance premiums.
Recipients of the award are selected based upon two criteria. First is the effort the board of education put forth as measured by the New Jersey School Boards Association Insurance Group Safety Assessment.
The second criteria is the results achieved as measured by the workers compensation loss ratio which is loss dollars divided by premium dollars.
While reading the news report, I couldn’t help but ponder on the two points in the criteria. I think that it pretty much covers the whole situation. In my mind, it is very important that we take into consideration the effort that a group puts into school safety programs. Sometimes, even if the results are not excellent, the effort given could be enough to be recognized and noticed. Then again, it is important to also look into the fruits of their labor. You can have all the effort that you wish but without concrete results, perhaps the methods behind the efforts should be re-considered.
Some info on the New Jersey School Boards Association Insurance Group Safety Assessment. They are a non-profit group which offers property and casualty insurance to public schools in the state of New Jersey. The good thing about their activities is that they offer the policies to the public schools at a discount. With the state the budget for education is in right now, reduced costs for most anything is really useful for the public schools.
I was just wondering if other entities offer this kind of service to public schools in other states. Would you know?

The most important concepts in assisting the youth in our nationns schools. However, would be to develop organizations that are education to deter them from entering into street gangs or any type of volience. Educate or children of the importance of values, morales and the concepts of why volience is harmful.
Nothing seems to be easier than seeing someone whom you can help but not helping.
I suggest we start giving it a try. Give love to the ones that need it.
God will appreciate it.
